Storytime!

Storytime!

Posted by Kathryn Beatham

Hear Kathryn, organiser of the Parent University course at PACT, read a story for your babies and toddlers

We can't go to the library right now, so we hope you enjoy Kathryn reading this story called 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?' by Bill Martin Jr/Eric Carle, published by Puffin.

The story has lots of REPETITION - every page repeats some of the same words. Babies and young children really enjoy this and it also helps them learn.

The story also has lots of COLOURS in it - maybe you could look for objects in your house of the same colours - brown, red, yellow, blue, green, purple, white, black, gold. Which is your child's favourite colour? Does your child like lining the objects up? Or putting them inside a box or a bag?

And the story has lots of ANIMALS in it - bear, bird, duck, horse, dog, cat, frog, sheep, goldfish. Do you have any other pictures of these animals? Can you and your child make the animal noises? Or act out the animals? Or draw pictures of them?

Whatever you do, have fun and see what your child is interested in.
