An excerpt from a PACT mum's 'Pause for Thought' on BBC Radio 2:

"Once we were on the bus I knew we’d be OK, because we were on our way somewhere special, a place where we’d be welcomed whatever state we arrived in, given a cup of tea and an encouraging hug. Nowhere fancy or exclusive, just our regular playgroup. It’s in this church hall in South London where I’ve met mums from all walks of life. Mothers with babies on the way, mums nervously clutching newborns or battling with preschoolers. Women who speak a different language from me, masters graduates, project managers and those struggling financially. Women from many faiths, countries and backgrounds with diverging opinions and beliefs, gathered together sharing our stresses, exhaustion, tears and joy…

Perhaps that is what makes Friday mornings even more special, that in spite of our differences we are finding common ground, figuring out how to do this terrifying thing called parenting. Learning, failing, loving and laughing together as sisters.   That’s why it’s always worth the battle to get out of the house with my gorgeous, strong headed boy, because we’re going to a place of connection, understanding and love, and by 10am I’m desperate for a cup of tea and that hug."
