PACT Summer Mental Health Challenge

Kathryn, Mena and Josephine introduce 5 ideas to help you improve your mental health. Try them to help you feel calmer and more positive and enjoy your time more with your children and family.

Idea 1 - Connect with other people

Call someone for a chat, meet up with a friend and their children in the park. Play some games or talk to your children. Eat meals together. Join PACT zoom groups or meet up with other PACT families.

Idea 2 - Keep active

Go outside and walk, run, play games, throw or kick a ball, play with your children.  Inside, try dance, follow an exercise video online, keep moving around your home. Find something you enjoy that keeps you active!

Idea 3 - Learn a new skill

Learning something new can make you feel more confident, raise your self esteem and give you a sense of purpose.You could try online courses, cooking, baking, craft, painting, writing a blog, learning a sport, reading, fixing something. Look for video tutorials or ask someone to share their skill with you.

Idea 4 - Give to others

Research shows that being kind to other people makes you feel good too! Try offering to help someone, calling or messaging someone to check they are ok. You could say thank you to someone, Make or bake something for a friend, Join a campaign or get involved with improving your local area.

Idea 5 - Use Mindfulness
Pay more attention to the present moment, to your thoughts and feelings and to the world around you.You can pick a regular time to do this, either sitting somewhere quietly or going for a walk or doing exercise like yoga.

Remember – if you feel very sad or anxious most days, do reach out to your GP and ask for help – they may be able to recommend talking therapy or medication if you need it.

PACT Desafío de salud mental de verano!

¡Hola a todos!  Hoy, nos estamos centrando en la salud mental y 5 ideas que pueden ayudar a mejorar su salud mental. Pruébelos para que le ayuden a sentirse más tranquilo y positivo y disfrute más de su tiempo con sus hijos y su familia. 

Idea 1 - Conéctate con otras personas 

Llame a alguien para conversar, reúnase con un amigo y sus hijos en el parque.  Juegue algunos juegos o hable con sus hijos.  Coman juntos.  Únase a los grupos de zoom de PACT o reúnase con otras familias de PACT. 

Idea 2 - Mantente activo 

Salga y camine, corra, juegue, arroje o patee una pelota, juegue con sus hijos.  En el interior, intente bailar, siga un video de ejercicios en línea, siga moviéndose por su casa.  ¡Encuentra algo que disfrutes que te mantenga activo! 

Idea 3 - Aprende una nueva habilidad A

prender algo nuevo puede hacerle sentir más seguro, elevar su autoestima y darle un sentido de propósito. Podría probar cursos en línea, cocinar, hornear, hacer manualidades, pintar, escribir un blog, aprender un deporte, leer, arreglar algo.  Busque videos tutoriales o pídale a alguien que comparta sus habilidades con usted. 

Idea 4 - Dar a otros 

¡La investigación muestra que ser amable con otras personas también te hace sentir bien! Intente ofrecer ayuda a alguien, llamando o enviando un mensaje a alguien para verificar que está bien. Podría agradecer a alguien, hacer u hornear algo para un amigo, unirte a una campaña o involucrarte para mejorar tu área local. 

Idea 5 - Usar la atención plena

Presta más atención al momento presente, a tus pensamientos y sentimientos y al mundo que te rodea. Puede elegir un horario regular para hacer esto, ya sea sentado en un lugar tranquilo o saliendo a caminar o haciendo ejercicio como yoga. 

Recuerde: si se siente muy triste o ansioso la mayoría de los días, comuníquese con su médico de cabecera y solicite ayuda, es posible que le puedan recomendar terapia o medicamentos si lo necesita.
